The tongue of the boot features a metatarsal protection cover, which acts as a shield over the player's foot when laced up. This helps redistribute energy from impacts across the skate, providing optimal protection against foot injuries. The skate's reinforced boot is able to withstand the pressure of even larger-footed skaters, thanks to its completely reinforced construction. Great price for a set of extremely large skates that no other company seems to be willing to make. Appreciate Flight, I even reached out to them directly with questions which were promptly answered. My kid commented the boot itself is a little strange around the opening but it works fine, may just have to break in a bit. I promptly replaced the wheels with a set meant for indoor sport court hockey. The wheels provided looked to be more suited for outdoor use. I'll be purchasing the same ice hockey skate for him as well, hard to find stuff for a size 16 foot.
